![]() We are quickly approaching one year since we took over the residence of this awesome property. When we moved in last summer, it was too late to plant a garden or do much with landscaping so we've been busy. We did plant a garden...with the weather, it isn't doing awesome but it is still fun for us. It has been neat exploring all that is blooming around here - Lots of Lilac Bushes, Apple & Cherry Blossoms, Grape Vines, Morel Mushrooms and a ton of different Wild Flowers! It seems each day something new is popping up out of the ground. With all this nature around us...we have been enjoying all the different birds out here. We've always had bird feeders but never such a variety of birds and we are always grabbing for our bird book to try to identify them. Some of our favorites so far are: Pileated Woodpecker (he is HUGE), Oriole, Blue Jay, Indigo Bunting, Finches, Cardinals and Hummingbirds...to name a few! It has been an amazing year...for all of us! Last year at this time the girls were scared and nervous about going to a new school...and sad to leave friends behind. They did AWESOME! We are so proud of who they are becoming as they grow up and of all their accomplishments. They are both very outgoing and it didn't take long for them to make friends and find a place at their new school...that part in a is never easy but they didn't have any trouble. Ashlyn conquered her fears - tried out for show choir and made it! She put forth great effort and made all of the very early morning practices and had several solo performances! She even was selected to perform in the end of the year talent show...and in my opinion stole the show with this "hot" number! Emily really put herself out there this year! She was an active member of Student Council and the school Newspaper - It was fun to see her articles published. She dabbled in playing the Clarinet and joined band for the 2nd Semester. She tried out for a part in the school Christmas play and got a part as a reindeer....along with an end of the year production about the Underground Railroad. She also joined softball - having never played before I am amazed at the improvements she has made so far. She has been very dedicated to going to practices and taking the time for some one on one practice at home with Dad (I can't catch or hit a ball to save my life!). We love each other.
We encourage and support each other. Without those things in this world, life would be really tough! Family is where it's at folks...embrace it. |
