Has it really been almost 2 months since I wrote last???? Our 2013 sure started out with a bang and I couldn't be happier!! Even though I've added more to my every day plate...I won't let that compromise my time with my husband and children. Since I am an organizer...here are some ideas I've used and LOVE.
How to Prioritize When Everything is a Priority...
Make a List: Love me some lists!!! Write down everything that you want to get done that day. Once you have everything down, separate the items into urgent vs. non-urgent to determine your top priorities. I am sure to write down things like "Take shower"...easy check offs help me to feel very accomplished.
Be Honest: When creating your list of priorities, be realistic. Setting unattainable goals will only cause disappointment as your day progresses.
Be Flexible: To be able to effectively prioritize, you must be able to deal with changing priorities. Take them as they come and decide if they are urgent or not.
Cut the Cord: As a perfectionist, this is a struggle of mine. When something is really important, it’s easy to get caught up in the details and end up spending way too much time on a project or task. Spending too much time on one priority prevents you from checking other things off your list. Acknowledge when you’re doing this and move on.
Having a lot on your plate at once can feel very overwhelming and frustrating...but almost
anything is manageable if you learn to prioritize effectively. Happy Monday!!
